It's been one of 'those' weeks and really nice news has been scarce. In addition to everything else, nutrition and healthy eating has been on my mind. I was pleased as punch, therefore, to read the following. At last, someone speaking up in defense of chocolate!
There has been a lot of good news about chocolate in recent years. From what I've read, the key is to eat the dark or extra dark chocolate -- the chocolate with 70%cocoa and not to eat more than about an ounce or two a day a few times a week. Personally, I think there should be special bracha for dark chocolate.
You needed a reason to love chocoloate?! Just wait. Twenty or thirty years from now some researchers are going to find out that corn chips and pizza have super special nutritional properties and we should all be eating them. If it can happen for chocolate it can happen for these other things too.
Brocha: The chocolate that is goo for you is not the stuff most people eat. It's the super dark chocolate and in moderate amounts. BTW - Pizza can be good for you if you use whole wheat crust, tomoto sauce that is not loaded with sodium, small amounts of low fat mozzarella and top it off with lots of roasted (not fried) veggies. Enjoy.
